San Mateo-based Monogram raised a $40 million seed round in July 2026, led by DST Global and Lux Capital, to build an AI application that generates entire interactive visual interfaces in response to a query, rather than returning a block of text.
The company was founded by Eren Bali, best known as a co-founder of Coursera, alongside a team building what the company describes as a voice-driven, visual-first approach to AI interaction. Where a typical AI assistant might answer a question about recipes or travel plans with a wall of text, Monogram's platform is designed to generate a dynamic menu, interactive map, or purpose-built visual interface tailored to the specific request.
The round reflects a growing line of experimentation in how people actually interact with AI systems day to day. As chat-based interfaces have become the default across the industry, a number of founders and investors are betting that the next meaningful improvement in AI products won't come from smarter text responses alone, but from interfaces that adapt their entire visual structure to the task at hand.
